➡️ DIRECTIONS

Cut out the 24 cards and pre-made thought bubbles. Laminate if desired for durability.

Present the picture card and ask:

  • What are they thinking?
  • What are they feeling?

 

Follow-up questions:

  • What might they say?
  • What could you ask them?

 

To play with increased support, present a picture card and a field of pre-made thought bubbles and have the student match the correct thought to the correct person.

Print the big thought bubbles on card stock, then mount them on a popsicle stick. Practice the same concept – only on real people! The clinician or student holds up the thought bubble to their head, and the other player identifies the emotion or thoughts as a result of facial expressions or actions.

    I looooooooove this material! It was great for my basic social skills groups and my students had a blast coming up with some silly thoughts for the pictures after our initial lesson..

    The pictures have enough detail so that the kids really have to look at the pictures to infer the meaning of what is pictured. (grandmother’s face showing that she is being squeezed, not just hugged). It is easy to level, e.g., not showing the thought bubble with answers or giving a choice of thoughts, etc.
    I printed this out, laminated the pages and put into a notebook. This made it so easy to flip to each page. I then used double-sided tape on the ‘bubbles’. (no velcro any more!).
