This set of picture scenes was a hit with my students. The information that I could get out of each student for placement of items or vocabulary or spontaneous comments was great. I also used it for one little boy to complete some work before we did the “pirate” scene which was his obsession. Worked perfectly! I know these will get used a great deal. Thank you.

  30. Speech Without Borders

This has been a terrific virtual substitute for “barrier game” type activities that I ordinarily do using Melissa and Doug sticker books! With a great helper next to my clients, we work on expanding sentences and following multi-step directions. My only negative is that some of the “stickers” (the parts you move onto the scene) are small but have a lot of detail and are hard for my students to tell what they are.

  31. victoria H.

    Great resource. Highly recommend!

  37. Tammy N.

I have many of your previous barrier scenes (the ones where you laminate and cut out pieces to velcro or use sticky tack) and I loved using them duirng my in-person therapy sessions. With things switching to teletherapy, I was trying to figure out how to use these scenes virtually. I am so so so glad you made these to put on boom and even separated into different language targets to click on!!! My kids love the open play aspect and I can narrate and bombard them with so many vocab words! All the visuals are super cute as well!

  38. Sarah P.

Thank you for these fun and interactive activities! The little ones loved them!

  66. Sarah L.

These can be used to target several different skills, and the students like using them!

  67. Kristin S.

A great resource to target receptive/expressive language, articulation, concepts, vocabulary all while allowing the children to pick a motivating theme/location.

  68. Julie M.

This resource has been helpful to engage my young elementary students working on following directions during teletherapy. It contains very fun, colorful picture scenes, and is easy to “get the right answer”. The target field is large enough to accommodate kids with not-so-accurate drag & drop computer skills (e.g. the kid can place an item anywhere on the sand, and they will be correct).

  69. Cheryl W.

I cannot say enough about this bundle. The themes are so engaging and the kids LOVE the activities. You can pair these barrier games with a book to further enhance the theme.

  70. The Communication Castle

  80. Speech in the Sand

My students’ parents probably think this is the only resource I have available for distance learning, haha! I used this for any and everything. My students loved it, it was easy to use, and it was so versatile! Thank you for getting me through COVID-19 at home!

  91. Amanda K.

These are fantastic! I love them for following directions, but can also cover other language goals as well to expand vocabulary and utterances. The bundle is great to have so many options so the kids don’t get tired of the same theme.

  92. Miss AAC Ally

I originally bought just one of these scenes (big mistake!!!) and it was such a big hit with multiple students I went back and got the whole bundle! This is the PERFECT way to work on all sorts of following directions, I love that there are so many different types of concepts included. Plus, my kiddos just think it’s fun and ask to do the open play as a reinforcer. 🙂 GREAT purchase!

  93. Kelly R.

My clients really love moving the items around and also self-checking if they got it right. I do think some of the prepositions are challenging because of the 2-D image and putting something ‘behind’ or ‘in front of’ is a bit problematic. But overall this is a very worthwhile purchase and the kids are really enjoying it.

  94. Kathleen A.

I use this all time with my younger kiddos for teletherapy! So many goals can be targeted!

I do wish the main picture were a little bigger as on iPads it translates to something quite small, but I love that there are so many barrier games to choose from. These are great! They elicit a lot of language!

  117. Jennifer K.

I love these barrier games. The kids have fun with them. I do wish that the area did not light up when they got close…or that you could turn that feature off to gradually build a bridge to learning the concepts, but my students have enjoyed using this resource.

I used it in person and my students were so engaged and it made it so fun to target their goals. Also know it will be an awesome resource should we have to go remote again. After the session, I just wipe off the ipad and I’m ready for my next group, instead of wiping off several materials. Also enjoyed the different levels so I can individualize. You are so talented. I can’t wait to buy more of your products! Jana

This is one of my favorite bundles! I am trying to take less items into the classroom (COVID cleaning…), so this has been a great alternative to be able to work on following directions. I have also used these with my online students and it’s worked out well! A little more difficult since I have to give them yes/no options over Google Meets (they can’t control the mouse).

  164. Linda B.

    Great for online learning!

  165. Diana K.

My students are having fun using this for direction following goals. I use mostly for in person due to difficulty with virtual students manipulating the pieces on their end. That is a tech issue not a product issue.

  166. PlaySayLearn

love barrier games for language and this is perfect for teletherapy. love working on the themes like this also! thank you!

  167. Anna W.

I LOVE interactive barrier games for distance learning and this packet was the first one I bought for this purpose. I use it to target articulation in words, phrases, and sentences; receptive language concepts (quantities, quality, spatial, temporal); expressive language concepts; WH questions; and sentence formation. My students LOVE it and ask to do this over and over. One student I worked with was refusing to come to the table/screen to work. When I started the activity, he sat down and had the most amazing session ever, hitting all his targets, engaging for 20 minutes…and he did not want to stop when the session was over.

  168. Shireen G.

Love this! Visuals are very engaging for my kids and it’s easy to use in person or over the computer!

This has been a wonderful resource for teletherapy. I love all the different scenes to choose from-you can work in lots of fun vocabulary! There are also so many different types of directions you can target with each picture scene making this a resource that kids do not easily get tired of! The open play scenes are also great for reinforcement and structured conversation. Highly recommend!

Such a versatile resource that you can use in so many different ways. You can use it to build vocabulary in different themes, build adjectives, follow instructions, teach position words etc. There is an open play option, so that you don’t have to follow the specific instructions which I found really valuable that way you can give control to the child and ask them to give you instructions (which they often love doing).

  195. Christina W.

  199. Amy Berry

This is a fun and engaging way to work on a variety of language skills. I like that the different types of directions are separated into categories so that you can easily go to the concept that you want to target. I also appreciated that there is an extra answer box so that the kids don’t just move the object around until they see the answer box light up.
